LCARS Interface Release 21 [Windows 8] now Available!

A new update has now been approved and should be available in the Windows 8 Store today. This update brings a couple of important bug fixes, as well as adding the ability to hide the (new as of last update) Alert Status controls from the main window if you feel that all of the new features being added have taken away from the clean look.

I had hoped to add the Conn module into this update, but it is not yet ready for prime time, and I'm making additional adjustments to the design again. The interactions will be simplified somewhat from what I planned, because with the current functionality of the overall system, it didn't make sense to go through all of the complicated math because of how limited the visual outputs would be. So coming in the next update (I hope) will be that module which should still add some additional fun to the program.

As usual, your suggestions and feedback I have been receiving have been wonderful, and I encourage you all to keep sending me your suggestions on how I can make the app better for you (and everyone else). LCARS Interface continues to be in the Top 100 overall apps in the Windows 8 Store due to your suggestions and support!

    1. Glad you are liking the app! More features are still in the works as well. Bugs and performance hiccups always take priority over new features though even if they are minor, so we always want to push those fixes out as soon as they are resolved.

  2. tactical, medical, and some sort of access to a "Starfleet reference library" would be cool.

    1. Medical is certainly in the planning stages right now. the Conn module is well on its way and should be in the next big release. A reference library would be fantastic, although we don't currently have the resources to assemble one on our own. It is possible we will pursue working with one of the web based databases already out there which provides this service already.

  3. This app is a lot of fun.

would love to see some improvements to the log function. I use it to keep track of business dealings. So besides fun, I find it useful and a real tool for the real world. you should see the looks I get at the office. (eat their hearts out)

love the suggestions for the modules. it seems you could make the resource mod actually pull information from the tablet as opposed to just being a sim. the Com+ objects may be useful there.

your work is Great and FUN.

    1. Glad you are enjoying it! Do you know what specific functions you would like added to the log editor?

I would love to do that with the resources, but Com+ objects aren't generally allowed in Windows Store apps for security reasons. You really can't get much information about the computer it is running on at all.

  4. Very cool app, now I know how it would feel to hold a real Trek Pad. Maybe you can add a page simply with the design of a science console (have a look at the tricorder app for apple) and some animations like the engine room screen. It is really fun just to Play with it. :)

    1. Glad you are enjoying it! More modules are in the works that should add to the fun factor. It's a tough balance between making modules that actually do something and ones that are just fun to play with!
